Forza Horizon 2: a racing resort in Southern Europe

The open-world racing game Forza Horizon 2, released for Xbox in 2014, is the seventh in the Forza series. This time, the Horizon action has moved to Southern Europe. Fans of looking at the world from the window of a car flying along the track at high speed can enjoy the scenery of different areas of France and Italy.

Gameplay

The game includes 15 championships, in between which you can try your skills in street races. The choice of race depends on which car you currently prefer, so the class of the car does not give a serious advantage.

After passing the track, you can compare your result with the best one and compete with the “ghost” player who set it. The developers skillfully mixed the standard races with breathtaking adventures. You can participate in the performance, where you will have to try to outrun a train or a squadron of fighters.

The game engine makes the control easy and simple. It allows you to literally get used to the role of the racer and feel your car. But do not relax too much, and don’t forget that the behavior of each car on the track is unique.

Otherwise, you can quickly fly off the track at the first sharp corner. For each run, you receive money, which you can use to buy a new car and upgrades. It is possible to build a car of any taste, replacing not only the engine and other parts but also the body completely.

New modes

Unlike its previous version, Forza Horizon 2 has a Bucket List mode, which displays the group of races available to the player within the festival. In fact, it is two separate lists: the first is for France, and the second – is for Italy.

Connecting to the online mode Car Meets, you can compare your car with cars of friends or rivals, see their chosen settings or compete in a circuit. To compete against other players, you can go online and access the Co-Op Bucket Lists mode. Here you can have a race with a random player or invite your friends. Lists are regularly updated, so the player always has available competitions.

So that the tracks in the vast open world did not look empty, the developers have introduced a system of driver-bots controlled by artificial intelligence. They copy the behavior and driving habits of real players, so they can cut you off at the turn or force you to pull over on the side of the road.

You cannot forbid to live beautifully

Despite the concept of a racing game, which should be based solely on competition and the battle for the leading place, in Forza Horizon 2 you can perfectly relax from these very races.

For example, you can just drive along the roads of the Mediterranean coast, enjoy the sun and beautiful views, take selfies in front of a fabulously expensive car, or go to the sea.

You can travel between cities, hang out somewhere in the middle of the track with other festival participants, and turn on a popular Italian radio station – all this and many other actions are available in the open world of the game. Sometimes it feels like you’re at a sunny resort, not racing.

Forza Horizon 2 is the right game to simply enjoy controlling a racing car on the track without being distracted by speed calculations. Fighting for the lead remains a great motivator, but it is not obligatory to fully experience the drive of a racing festival.
